March 2013 News

The pipes are calling indeed!

Let me introduce you to the West Side Irish-American Club Pipe Band.
As of January 2013, the Irish Heritage Pipe Band is joining the West Side Irish-American Club and will now be known as the West Side Irish-American Club Pipe Band. The Band has been together for over 12 years and is made up of nine pipers, three snare drummers, four tenor drummers, and a base drummer. In 2012, the Band was recognized as the First Place Pipe Band in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Band wears the Irish National kilt with a style that is known as a military press. The Band plays at a number of community events and special occasions from Put in Bay to Cleveland and in between. This group of musicians currently practices at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Avon and will also be holding practices at the Club on a regular basis.
Greg Oster, Pipe Major, and Mike Taylor, Drum Sergeant, are the musical leaders of the group. Please know that anyone who has an interest in learning how to play the pipes or drums is welcome and encouraged to call or e-mail Greg Donnelly, Band Manager, at 216-538-1287 or gdonn0309@aol.com. We have experienced teachers available to help you learn the instrument of your choice. Once again, if you have ever had an interest in learning the pipes or drums don’t hesitate to get in touch with Greg. The Band is excited to be a part of the West Side Irish-American Club and looks forward to getting to know and serve the membership. We’ll see you soon.
